Lizard Prom are a four piece alternative rock band from Hawkes Bay, New Zealand. They draw influence from a variety of genres including shoegaze, post-punk and doom. Previously named Queens of Beauty School, the band started mid-2014. Creating moody, atmospheric rock – dreamy, but with an aggressive undercurrent. During this period the band opened for Jakob and The Veils, as well as playing various local shows. After a hiatus in 2018, the band regrouped at the start of 2019, renaming as Lizard Prom but continuing with the sound they had established in the years prior. During 2019 they recorded and released their self titled debut EP, featuring the single Betty Goes to Hell and accompanying video. This track stayed in the Radio One Top11 for 12 weeks, peaking at number 1 in February. It was also playlisted by 95bFM. Continuing to play live regularly in their hometown of Hawkes Bay, Lizard Prom have built up a reputation as an exciting live act with chaotic energy, most recently opening for Beastwars on the Napier stop of their late 2019 tour.
