Tia Ward is one to watch. Bursting into the New Zealand pop scene, Tia Ward shares her crazy life stories with a metaphorical spin. With influences such as Labrinth, Benee, Dua Lipa and Beyonce, Tia is determined to share her dance pop fusion music with the world. Growing up in a musical family in Hawkes Bay (Whakapapa to Taranaki & Ngāti Maniapoto), Tia made the decision to move to Wellington to pursue music. Graduating from Massey University with a Bachelor of Commercial Music in 2022, Tia ensures all parts of her life revolve around music. With a past working for Te Mangai Paho as the Music Intern, Tia is experienced in both the business and creative side of music. Currently Tia is gearing up for the releases and live performances in 2025. Blending genres has always been Tia Ward's forte. In 2021, Tia released her debut single 'Paint Dry' produced by Josh Fountain. 'Paint Dry' was a blend of New Zealand pop with a reggae influence to create the perfect combination for her first release. In 2022 Tia released her first EP titled 'Me & Me Too'. This EP was a mix of pop rock, R&B, electronic pop and dance synth pop. She used this EP as an opportunity to experiment with different genres to find her sound. In 2022 Tia also released her first waiata reo Māori titled 'Ko Wai Ahau'. Since the release the track has featured in the Te Reo Māori Radio Scope charts for 3 months from June 2023 - August 2023. In November 2023 Tia was nominated for Favourite Song featuring Te Reo Māori at the Student Radio Awards 2023. In 2023, Tia also performed on Live TV for 'The FEED TV Show' which included a sit down interview and a performance of 'Paint Dry' and 'Ko Wai Ahau’. Tia works alongside her drummer Simon Buxton. Similar to Billie Ellish and Finneas, the pair have performed to large audiences at San Fran, Meow and most notably Cuba Dupa 2023. Her live sound consists of drummer Simon controlling the tracks and samples live via Ableton stems to further Tia's pop sound. With a past in dance, Tia uses her natural stage presence to put on a show rather than a performance. Pair that with Simon, her drummer, and you have yourself a night to remember when Tia is on stage. In 2025, Tia is gearing up to reintroduce herself with a matured pop sound set to evoke feelings of defiance, desire and determination setting herself apart from other pop artists. “Tia Ward is undoubtedly a talent to watch!”
