Biography
Auto Wave are a duo: DJ, on vocals and guitar, and Eugene holding down bass and drums. They are based in Hawke’s Bay living in Akina, Hastings.
DJ, 35, originally from the Philippines moved to New Zealand with his wife in 2020. He’s a songwriter/guitarist since high school. June 2024 when he signed up for a gig when he chose Auto Wave as a stage name, which is inspired by his former indie band name and musical influences namely new wave, post-punk, indie, shoegaze, and alternative. After the gig, DJ decided to pursue recording and releasing songs as Auto Wave as he has quite a few original compositions written. A few months later, Eugene joined in.
